Check the status of your tax refund

You filed and you are waiting. Here are the official links to check it yourself, and we are here if something looks wrong.

01

Federal refund (IRS)

You need four things: your Social Security number or ITIN, your filing status, the tax year and the exact refund amount. The IRS updates the status once a day, usually overnight.

02

Amended return

If we filed an amendment (Form 1040-X), tracking happens in a separate tool. It takes about 3 weeks to show up and 8 to 16 weeks to process. You will need your Social Security number, date of birth and ZIP code.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

How long does it usually take?

The IRS issues most refunds in under 21 days if you filed electronically and asked for direct deposit. On paper, count 4 to 8 weeks. If you claimed the Additional Child Tax Credit or the EITC, the law requires the IRS to hold your refund until mid-February.

What about a Florida state refund?

Florida has no personal income tax, so there is no state refund to chase. If you worked part of the year in another state, that state may owe you money: tell us which one and we will look at it with you.
